The AGATA (Advanced GeAnt4-based platform for virtual clinical Trials in x-ray breAst imaging) project, coordinated by the INFN section of Naples, aims to develop a platform for the numerical simulation of diagnostic tests that use X-ray, 2D and 3D, for breast cancer diagnosis. This platform would allow the performance evaluation and technological development of the equipment used in such investigation modalities without the need to really expose patients to radiation. Thanks to the skills in the development of advanced models of interaction of photons with matter, the activities of the Ferrara group concern the introduction in the Geant4 simulation code of phase and interference effects in the coherent interactions of photons with the patient.
An application dedicated to showing the use of the code is available at the link: https://www.fe.infn.it/ricerca/gruppo5/agata/www.fe.infn.it/medical_physics/Geant4/Rayleigh_MI
