The DEMIURGOS project foresees the feasibility study of a new type of detectors characterized by a low energy threshold for interaction studies with a very small cross section. These requests are mainly motivated by a possible application of these detectors in the search for Dark Matter, which constitutes most of the mass present in the Universe and whose composition is not yet known. The active medium of the proposed detector is a Rare Gas crystal solidified at cryogenic temperatures. The project involves the study of 2 detection schemes: one based on undoped crystals while the second uses crystals doped with alkaline or Rare Earths.
