Hyperpure Germanium (HPGe) gamma-ray detectors are fundamental tools for nuclear physics due to their exceptional energetic resolution. In the PRONG project we want to lay the technological foundations to be able to explore and expand the applications of HPGe detectors outside the narrow research field. We aim to optimize the processes that lead to the creation of high-performance and stable hyperpure germanium strip detectors. The aim is, in perspective, to create a planar device that combines two-dimensional resolution with the high energy resolution allowed by hyperpure germanium. The applications would range from medical analyses with complex radio-drugs, to applications in the field of security or safety in nuclear sites.
