The main aim of the BaBar experiment is the study of the violation of CP symmetry (Charge-Parity conjugation) in the decay of B mesons produced at SLAC in electron-positron interactions. The violation of this symmetry is manifested by a different behaviour of particles and corresponding antiparticles: the understanding of the violation of CP constitutes a fundamental step to explain the absence of antimatter in our world. The INFN Ferrara group had various roles in the experiment and in particular led, together with the Princeton University, an Italian-American collaboration of 13 Universities/Laboratories that built the muon barrel sub detector.
