The Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) ia a particle accelerator to be built in the USA in the forthcoming years. Two polarized beams, one composed of electrons and the other of protons or ions, will collide in the interaction regions. From the analysis of the fragments at energy between 20 and 150 GeV it will be possible to study in great details the internal structure of protons and nuclei in term of their elementary contituents, the quarks and gluons. This will contribute significantly to the understanding of strong interaction, especially in non-perturbative regime, where theoretical computations are more difficult and less reliable. EIC_NET is an italian network of researchers involved in the preliminary evaluation of the project.
