INFN Ferrara is a member of CHNet, the network of experimental groups that deal with the applications of Physics to Cultural Heritage. In particular, the Ferrara group deals with the diagnostic imaging of an artwork using electromagnetic radiation from infrared to X-rays. Among the techniques developed by the group, the scanner to perform X radiographs of paintings directly in the place where the work is located. We recall the radiographic image of the large painting by Gaetano Previati, Paolo and Francesca, (1909, 2.60x2.30 m) which allowed the first redaction to be reconstructed.
